PRP Therapy As A Hair Loss Solution

According to US National Library of Medicine website Platelet Rich Plasma PRP is scientifically known as autologous blood with concentrations above baseline levels containing at least seven growth factors. In other words, PRP is just taking a portion of someone's blood separating it into two layers: one layer is the platelet rich plasma that contains small colorless disk-shape cells (platelet) and the red blood cells. Platelet rich plasma is a natural source of growth factors that is used to promote soft tissue healing and is used today as a solution to hair loss.

Platelet Rich Plasma was discovered in 1999 by different companies, according to bones and joints expert, Dr. Joseph Aiello. Dr. Aiello said, "oral surgeons and plastic surgeons were the first to get on board with PRP." Oral and plastic surgeons used PRP when doing reconstructive bone surgery and plastic surgery. The enhancement of the healing after surgery was the motivation for the use of PRP.

At one point PRP was very expensive. Later doctors started to use PRP to stabilize different joints. Athletes like Tiger Woods, Hines Ward, the Pittsburg Steelers and Stanford football players would use PRP to heal injuries quicker so they can get back to playing before choosing the option of having surgery. The results of using PRP to heal and stabilize joints turned out fantastic! In 2004 Menlo Medical clinic's, Dr. Allan Mishra did a study of the use of PRP and found that 90 percent of healing was at the six-month mark on injuries that were 20 months old.

Today PRP plays a significant role in hair loss restoration. International Hair Restoration Systems offers Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy, an advanced hair restoration solution for men and women. For this safe and comfortable procedure with little to no downtime, the platelets are distributed directly into the hair follicle stimulating growth.

The steps of the PRP process consist of transferring stem cells to your hairline, crown or the top of your head to be used to help promote hair growth and reverse hair loss. Blood is drawn and placed into a machine with a rapidly rotating container, known as a centrifuge, that separates the plasma that includes substantial growth factors from the blood. It is then placed in the scalp. Platelet Rich Plasma is an outstanding technology used to heal scar tissue and hair follicles, while also helping to thicken the existing hair follicles that are weak from hair loss.

PRP and Hair Transplants: The Modern Hair Loss Solution Duo

International Hair Restoration Systems in Jacksonville proudly offers an innovative treatment for hair loss.

Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP is a procedure used in hair loss treatments to improve hair growth and strengthen hair follicles. Platelet Rich Plasma is a versatile procedure in that PRP can be a standalone treatment to combat hair loss, and PRP can also work wonders in conjunction with a hair transplant.

Platelet Rich Plasma is not new technology, but it is a new medically advanced technology in treating hair loss. Whether used in a standalone procedure or in addition to a hair transplant, Platelet Rich Plasma involves drawing a patient’s blood and centrifuging it out to separate the blood from the cells and plasma. PRP utilizes the patient’s own stem cells, which work with the patient’s hair to not only heal the transplant site, but to encourage growth within the transplanted or unhealthy hair follicles.

Hairtransplant technology has advanced over the years and the procedures are now more advanced than ever. Used in tandem, these two procedures are a winning duo against hair loss.

New Scientific Breakthrough in Hair Restoration is Here!

IHRS is proud to introduce Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP Therapy. This revolutionary procedure is changing the hair restoration industry and we can now offer it locally, in Jacksonville. It can be used as a standalone procedure or in conjunction with hair transplants or other hair restoration procedures to help increase the success of your results. You can stimulate hair growth and reverse thinning hair by using your own hair stem cells, in your frontal hairline, crown area, and entire top of your head.

What is PRP Therapy?

PRP, which stands for Platelet Rich Plasma, is a new process in which a clients' own blood cells are used to improve the regrowth of new hair. A client's blood is drawn, then placed in a centrifuge to separate the blood from the plasma, which is rich in platelets. This platelet rich plasma is then injected directly into the client's scalp. The entire process takes about an hour to an hour and a half.

How does it work?

Once the PRP is injected into the client's scalp, it actually releases powerful enzymes that promote the healing of tissue and hair follicles. It contains growth factors that can stimulate the regrowth of your hair and even thickens your existing hair follicles. It's a technology similar to what scientists have been using for years when conducting stem cell research, but without the controversy, because with PRP, we are using your own cells to regrow and strengthen your own hair. It is also currently used by some doctors to heal muscle tissue and allow patients to recover more quickly from surgeries.

Who is a candidate for PRP Therapy at IHRS?

Fortunately, almost everyone is a candidate for this amazing new hair restoration treatment. The best candidates are especially men & women with Male or Female Pattern Baldness or who are just beginning to experience thinning or hair loss and want to stop it in its tracks. It works wonders for people who have undergone hair transplants, increasing the likelihood of successful results. It can also be recommended for those who are looking to regrow or thicken hairs elsewhere on the body, such as the eyebrows.
