Hair Restoration Restored Carol’s Confidence

The Decision

Carol was in her late 40’s when she started losing her hair. Her hair loss was affecting her confidence and her social life, isolating her from friends and family. She would stay away from parties and family events, including weddings, because of her thinning hair.

Carol wanted to make a change in her appearance, and ultimately, her confidence. She said goodbye to looking older than her age and hello to a fresh new look!

Carol received her new hair replacement system and went back to work on Monday. Carol works as a stenographer, or court reporter. To her surprise, the case she was working was televised. Throughout the day, Carol would check her appearance and loved her results. She felt great and looked great.

The Results

Carol’s phone did not stop ringing the night the court case aired on the news. Everyone was telling her how great she looked on TV and how her new red hair complimented her so well.

Carol watched the case when it aired on the evening news and could not stop beaming with excitement. “I’m like 20 years younger! This is the new me!” Carol regained her confidence through hair restoration and you can too. Watch Carol’s full testimonial here.

Answers to Common Hair Loss Questions

Both Men and Women can experience hair loss in their lifetime. It's very common and it's normal to have questions and wish you could improve your hair loss situation.  Below are some of the most frequently asked questions on the minds of hair loss sufferers, with answers from International Hair Restoration Systems.

What causes hair loss?

Several things can contribute to causing hair loss. The number one culprit is usually genetics or hereditary male or female pattern baldness. This is a natural cause and often goes hand in hand with aging. There are also un-natural causes like certain prescription drugs or poor hair care routines or habits like overly processing with harsh chemicals. A number of health conditions like Lupus or Thyroid Disorders can also contribute to thinning hair or hair loss.

What hair loss solutions are there?

This all depends on your degree of hair loss but no matter what your situation is, there are plenty of solutions to choose from. Many advancements have been made in the hair restoration industry over the last several decades. Now there are hair transplant procedures that offer completely natural appearing results, with minimal to no pain or scarring, like the Neograft procedure. Other advancements include Laser Hair Therapy, which uses cool lasers to stimulate the hair follicles which can promote growth and thickening.

PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma is another scientific advancement in hair restoration. This procedure actually uses stem cell technology to help re-grow your hair. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is collected from your blood after a sample is drawn and then placed in a centrifuge to isolate the plasma that is filled with the growth factor platelets. When injected back into scalp, PRP begins to heal the unhealthy areas of your head that are balding. Hair follicles can become healthy again and start to grow or thicken.

For those who are looking for a complete hair replacement option, advancements have been made there too, allowing for a completely natural and versatile look to be accomplished. Sensigraft is a great product available for men, which is designed with real human hair to match your existing hair and is virtually undetectable to sight or touch. ReAllusions for women is a similar product, in that it is a non-surgical option that is not a wig or hair piece, but a permanent solution that essentially becomes a part of you.

Do any advertised hair loss treatments actually work?

Yes! There's no guarantee that EVERY product advertised out there will work for you, but the options listed above have show proven results time and time again. You can watch several hair restoration client testimonials here to learn what their experience was like and how they feel about their results. You can also find more videos on YouTube.

When should I begin treatment for hair loss?

Generally, it's best to inquire about treatment in the early stages of hair loss or thinning. Options like PRP or Laser Hair Therapy are great procedures that can help stabilize your hair loss, while thickening and strengthening your existing hair. It is never too late, however.  Regardless of your degree of hair loss, there IS a solution for you.

What should I do now?

The easiest way to begin restoring your hair is to book a free consultation with a hair restoration specialist. At IHRS, you can meet privately to determine both the cause of your hair loss and the right solution for you. You can book online at http://hair4me.com/contactus.htm or call (904) 425-5097. Celebrities Love Hair Extensions!

If you have ever wondered what the celebrity tricks are for such great hair, more often than not it’s because they’re using extensions to help add length, volume, and even color. Celebrities like Ariana Grande, BeyoncĂ©, Jennifer Lopez, Julianne Hough, Kim Kardashian West, and Selena Gomez all use extensions to help get the kind of hair that we see them with on the red carpets and even in their daily life. Today, more and more women are trying them out in their non-celebrity lives.

Even the current face of Pantene, Selena Gomez, wears extensions to get her hair “camera ready”. In an interview with Perez Hilton, Selena talks about her hair extensions "All this hair isn't mine—I have extensions as a sort of safety net when I'm on stage. It's really nice to have the long mermaid hair to move around while you’re being blasted with the fans up there. Plus it just makes me feel pretty. They're all glued in with a protein bond and I use this specific brush that gets into the root when you're brushing it out.”

If you are ready to take the next step towards celebrity hair, there are a lot of different options. Let’s take a deeper look into picking out the best extensions for you:

Extension Methods:
Permanent: Fusion of extension to hair, intended for a long period of time. These are often times less detectable than temporary methods.
Semi-Permanent: Fusion of extension to the hair intended for 1-3 months of use.
Temporary: There are two common temporary options, tape-in and clip-in extensions. Tape in extensions are intended for up to 2 months of wear. And clip in extensions have metal clips at the tip of each hair weft to clip to hair for daily use. You can take them out at the end of the day.

Types of Hair Extensions:
Human Hair: 100% human hair that is made into extensions.
Synthetic: Man-made synthetic hair that is made to look like human hair.
Mixed Blends: The extensions are made of a mixture of human and synthetic hair.

Getting voluminous, long hair is a lot easier than you think. With everything available you can choose whether you just want to have longer hair for a big night out or try it out for a few months with the semi-permanent or permanent methods.

At IHRS we offer premier, 100% real human hair extensions. Our Ultratress® hair extensions are a great way to add length and thickness to your hair. We use 100% Human Hair and keratin bonds that will not damage your existing hair and they can last three to five months! Ultratress® Hair Extensions are the Number One choice of stars like Catherine Zeta Jones, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston, and Christina Aguilera. Ultratress® is also one of gentlest products available.

At IHRS, we realize that it’s not always about length. Many of our Ultratress® clients are seeking more volume due to their own thin, weak or damaged natural hair. Even with all the excellent professional volumizing products available, nothing compares with the real thing: thick, healthy, beautiful hair. With Ultratress® hair extensions, you can now give your hair the fullness you want in order to look great with very little effort. You will be amazed at the transformation, not only in your hair, but also in your outlook!

Upcoming Alopecia Awareness Month

September is Alopecia Awareness Month and teams from the National Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF) have gathered all over the nation to help bring awareness to this common condition.
Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune skin disease that causes hair loss on the scalp and sometimes other areas of the body. T-cells attack the hair follicles, hiding them from immune recognition. It generally starts with hair on the scalp falling out in patches, creating smooth round bald spots which can eventually progress to total scalp hair loss (Alopecia Totalis) or complete body hair loss (Alopecia Universalis).
The disease can affect anyone at any age but symptoms often begin during childhood. The cause of Alopecia Areata is still unknown and doctors do not know what activates the autoimmune reaction. Research suggests it could be a combination of genetic susceptibility or environmental triggers that may confuse the immune system.
This year, the National Alopecia Areata Foundation has a new awareness and fundraising campaign called SeeUs. According to NAAF, the SeeUs Campaign is “our approach to reducing the stigma of difference and celebrating the uniqueness and resiliency of people living with these conditions.” People dealing with hair loss are encouraged to share their stories with friends and family or even on a larger scale, like in your community to help bring awareness and inform people about Alopecia Areata.
As in years past, the major and minor league baseball organizations show their support for NAAF as they “Team Up For Alopecia Areata”.  Sixteen teams (so far!) including the Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers, Colorado Rockies, and NAAF’s hometown heroes, the three-time champion San Francisco Giants have scheduled events and many will be hosting a variety of activities including awareness booths, public service announcements, first pitches, and more. Check out NAAF.org to find out the dates and times for the events.
At IHRS we fully support Alopecia Awareness Month and are here to help anyone suffering with alopecia. At our office, we are committed to restoring your hair and your life. We want you to feel confident. We pride ourselves on giving each client individualized treatment plans based on the type and cause of their hair loss as well as the outcome that they hope to have.
We offer a variety of treatments that are surgical and non-surgical such as Sensigraft hair replacement, Laser Hair Therapy, NeoGraft hair transplantation, luxury wigs and hair extensions, among many other options. Caring For Your Hair This Spring!

Spring Hair

While the spring provides new opportunities, it also brings new challenges for our hair. As you begin to enjoy the warm weather, remember that your hair needs just as much protection as your skin. Here are a few ways to help protect your hair this season.

Sun: One of the biggest challenges you’re hair will face this season is the sun. Fortunately, protecting your hair isn't quite so challenging. Wearing a wide brimmed hat or a headscarf is a simple and stylish way to protect your locks. Another simple solution is to style your hair into a simple up-do such as a bun or braids. An up-do will protect the bottom strands, which are the weakest parts of your hair, from sun damage. To help minimize the effects of the sun try using UV protecting shampoo, conditioner, and styling aids.

Moisture Balance: While it was important to keep your hair moisturized during the dry months of winter, the humidity from spring will alter your conditioning habits. Too much moisture will make your hair more prone to frizzing so if you deep conditioned your hair once a week during winter change it to every other week. If you used a heavy daily conditioner during winter swap it for a lighter moisture or balancing conditioner. Your hair will show you how much moisture it needs. If your hair has a lot of tangles, dry ends, or it feels rough to the touch, you're lacking moisture and need to add a deep conditioning to your hair regime. If your hair is limp or oily, cut back on the conditioning treatments.

Chlorine: One of the best things about spring is spending time at the pool, but the chlorine can have a damaging effect on your hair. Chlorine does more than cause green hair, it can also dry out your hair, causing damage to the bottom strands and leaving your hair looking dull and lacking luster. The easiest way to protect your hair from damage is to wash your hair thoroughly with a clarifying shampoo and balancing conditioner immediately after you leave the pool. However, if you still feel like the chlorine is building up in your hair many salons can do an in-salon treatment to help remove the excess chlorine.
