PRP and Hair Transplants: The Modern Hair Loss Solution Duo

International Hair Restoration Systems in Jacksonville proudly offers an innovative treatment for hair loss.

Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP is a procedure used in hair loss treatments to improve hair growth and strengthen hair follicles. Platelet Rich Plasma is a versatile procedure in that PRP can be a standalone treatment to combat hair loss, and PRP can also work wonders in conjunction with a hair transplant.

Platelet Rich Plasma is not new technology, but it is a new medically advanced technology in treating hair loss. Whether used in a standalone procedure or in addition to a hair transplant, Platelet Rich Plasma involves drawing a patient’s blood and centrifuging it out to separate the blood from the cells and plasma. PRP utilizes the patient’s own stem cells, which work with the patient’s hair to not only heal the transplant site, but to encourage growth within the transplanted or unhealthy hair follicles.

Hairtransplant technology has advanced over the years and the procedures are now more advanced than ever. Used in tandem, these two procedures are a winning duo against hair loss.

5 Tips For Healthy Hair All Winter Long

It's that time of year again... When the air gets a little colder, and undoubtedly dry, and windy. This can create harsh conditions for your hair. It's best to take proper precautions in managing your moisture and texture now. Read on to discover some helpful hair tips.

Deep Condition
Hair takes a beating from the dry, cold air during winter. Combat damaging weather with a hair mask that will breathe life back into your cold, dead hair. You can create your own hair mask with coconut oil. Coconut oil is a great, natural product that can heal and repair damaged hair. Use a mask that will penetrate your hair strands and get to the root of the dryness.

Wrap it
Protecting your hair from exposure to the winter elements is key. Keep your hair protected from the harsh winter winds with a wool or silk scarf, or hair wrap. Not only will this simple accessory liven up any winter look, it will keep your hair from flying around and taking a beating from the cold. Silk is a soft enough material to help keep your hair’s frizziness at bay, while wool will keep your head warm and cozy.

Humidifiers are Friends
Since the winter air is dry, your hair can lack the necessary moisture to keep it healthy, especially if you’re running your heater.  Investing in a humidifier can be a game changer. Even in Florida, a humidifier can be winter hair’s saving grace because it will put much needed moisture back into the air that can help improve your hair’s quality.

Wash Less
Even though warm showers feel great in the winter months, keep your hair washing to a minimum. Your hair will dry out easily during the winter months and washing it will only dry it out even more. In addition, if you are someone who is used to washing your hair every day, make sure you thoroughly dry it before you leave the house. Wet hair is not only more susceptible to weather damage, but it increases your chances of contracting a cold since your body heat is leaving. Also opt for a dry shampoo, which will refresh your hair in between washes by absorbing oils and sweat.

Regular Trims
It’s important, especially during the wintertime, to keep up with your hair’s maintenance. Stay consistent and get regular trims every six to eight weeks. This will keep your hair healthy by helping to eliminate dead ends and keep your hair looking and feeling fresh.
